Welcome to #APH-BritaMexi
This is a group dedicated to the pairing of Britain (Arthur Kirkland) and Mexico from Hetalia. Even though Mexico isn't an official Hetalia character, I believe there are some supporters for this couple out there. If you like this couple, feel free to join!.
All information on this page is for those Hetalians who do not know about the relationship of these two countries, and to inspire members in their artworks based on history.




Mexico still being an unofficial character, but has be mentioned it in some occasions.


● America and the World Map strip:In "America and the World Map" England asked to America why Mexico is "half-assed" on his map, stating that "It's because of my grudge over the Alamo."



♦Main focus should be on BritaMexi♦

- All deviations have to include Britain and/or Mexico, being them the main characters of the submission or being included.
- En todos los deviations tienen que estar incluidos Inglaterra y/o Mexico, siendo los personajes principaler o bien que solo esten incluidos.
♦Other Nations♦

- Other characters are allowed in the submission, but Britain and Mexico are the important characters since this group is about them.

♦Tracing/Vector/Screen shots/Plagiarism/Art theft/Recoulors are NOT welcome.♦

♦Not another pairings♦

- Another nations are allowed in the deviations, but this is a BritaMexi group, then are not allowed pairings with any of the main characters. However are allowed pairings with other nations.

- It doesn't really matter the way of the pairing. Het, yaoi and yuri is allowed.

- If is neccesary, put the mature tag to the deviation or it won't be allowed.

-Appreciate other peoples' preferences please. whether someone likes BritaMexi Het respect to those who prefer BritaMexi Yaoi and conversely, same with Yuri. We don't want any kind of fights.

In 1826 they signed the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between Mexico and the United Kingdom. Thanks to this treaty Mexico not only got a loan of money, which would later become debt nightmare, but increased European interest in Mexico. Although Britain had no expansionist interests specifically with Mexico, during the first years of independence, was the main trading partner of Mexico. Also intervened repeatedly to mediate between Mexico and France and the U.S., and after the Conservative defeat in the War of Reform, as a participant in conspiracies against liberal governments. Thus Britain was part in the alliance with Spain and France (supported by the latest) to invade Mexico, and that it had suspended the payment of foreign debt. And despite having withdrawn its troops from Veracruz, weakened his relationship with Mexico, ending the "good" relationship between the British Isles and the troubled Mexico in the first half of the nineteenth century.


♦ The United Kingdom was the first country in Europe to recognise Mexico's Independence.

♦ Over the early years of England independent Mexico was the main trading partner of Mexico.

♦ Mexico's most important allied.
- During the early years, Mexico had high hopes of having the support of the United Kingdom in different matters, like in war-America or in conquest to Cuba.
- Durante los primeros ańos, México tenia altas espectativas de contar con el apoyo del Reino Unido en diferentes asuntos, como en la primera intervencion estadounidense, o el plan de posible conquista de Cuba.

♦Texas Independence.
- During the independence of Texas, Britain acted as a faithful friend of Mexico, trying to prevent the annexation of this territory to the United States. The last British effort to preserve Texan independence, to propose the formation of a "buffer state" between the U.S. and Mexico.
- Durante la independencia de Texas, Gran Bretaña se comportó como fiel amigo de México, tratando de evitar la anexión de este territorio a los Estados Unidos. El último esfuerzo británico para preservar la independencia texana, al proponer la formación de un "estado tapón", entre los Estados Unidos y México.

♦ The United Kingdom aided Mexico against France.
- During the first French intervention in Mexico (Pastry War). Britain intervened to try to reach an agreement between France and Mexico, however, it was clear that if the French got along grade, use force to force them to negotiate.
- Durante la primera intervencion francesa en México (Guerra de los Pasteles). Gran Bretaña intervino para tratar de llegar a un acuerdo entre Francia y México, no obstante, resultaba claro que si no se avenían los franceses de grado, emplearía la fuerza para obligarlos a negociar.

♦ Treaty of La Soledad.
- By 1861, Mexico was a country deeply in debt and torn by divisions of the power of the Roman Catholic Church. Mexico's creditors demanded repayment, forcing then-President Benito Juárez to declare a two-year moratorium on foreign debt, which in turn led to a punitive expedition sent by Britain, France and Spain. Juarez successfully negotiated the "Treaty of La Soledad" with the British and Spanish, who soon withdrew.
- En 1861, México era un país profundamente endeudado y desgarrado por las divisiones del poder de la Iglesia Católica Romana. Acreedores de México exigió la devolución, lo que obligó al entonces presidente Benito Juárez para declarar una moratoria de dos ańos sobre la deuda externa, que a su vez llevó a una expedición punitiva enviada por Gran Bretańa, Francia y Espańa. ♦ Mexico & America are friends.
- After the Mexican Congress ratified a commercial agreement with the U.S. in 1883, Great Britain showed more interest in reestablish diplomatic relations with Mexico, and quickly did so a couple of years later.
- Después de que el Congreso mexicano ratificó un acuerdo comercial con los EE.UU. en 1883, Gran Bretańa mostro más interés en restablecer las relaciones diplomáticas con México, y rápidamente hizo un par de ańos más tarde.

♦ Belize: Mexican or British?.
- Sovereignty over the territory of Belize was historically claimed by Mexico, but the British crown refused to discuss this issue for a long time; however, in 1897, the signing of the "Mariscal-Spencer Treaty" resolved the territorial disputes with the British crown colony.
- La soberanía sobre el territorio de Belice fue reclamado históricamente por México, pero la corona británica se negó a hablar de este tema desde hace mucho tiempo, sin embargo, en 1897, la firma del "Tratado Mariscal-Spencer" resuelto las disputas territoriales con la colonia de la corona británica.

♦ Mexican Oil.
- In 1917, Mexico's newly promulgated Constitution provided, among other things, restrictions on foreign ownership of land and subsoil resources, notably oil. This last provision, included in Article 27, was ominous for American and British investors who had obtained oil-mining concessions. Due to heavy foreign pressure, subsequent governments did not strictly applicate the article, until Lázaro Cárdenas, who on March 18, 1938, fully nationalized the oil-industry. This measure led to protests by the British government questioning the nationalization and Mexico's solvency to execute it. In response, a check, in an amount worth of the demands for nationalization, was sent and diplomatic ties were broken off.
- En 1917, la Constitución recién promulgada de México proporciona, entre otras cosas, las restricciones a la propiedad extranjera de tierras y recursos del subsuelo, especialmente del petróleo. Esta última disposición, incluida en el artículo 27, era de mal agüero para los inversionistas estadounidenses y británicos que habían obtenido concesiones mineras en petróleo. Debido a la presión extranjera pesado, los gobiernos posteriores no estrictamente applicate el artículo, hasta Lázaro Cárdenas, quien el 18 de marzo de 1938, completamente nacionalizado la industria petrolera. ♦ Mexico joined the British alongside with the Allies to fight the Japanese forces in the Pacific War.

Cute. I never really thought what Britain would be doing with Mexico but it makes sense and its a cute pairing. Though I'm not mexican, I support all my latin brethren. So good job with the group. I learned some extra interesting things I'll need for my historical hetalia doujin.

So yeah, I'll join the group ^w^
